History of FGC IBillo

BRIEF HISTORY
The present site of Federal Government College, Ibillo was
originally occupied by Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ibillo
which was established in the 1960(s). Later in 1978, the
name was changed to Okpameri Girls Grammar School. In
1995, after the creation of Edo State from the Bendel
State, there was the need to establish a Federal
Government College in the state to cater for boys and girls
since Federal Government College Warri now belong to
Delta State. This now led to the establishment of Federal
Government College, Ibillo in 1995 which took over the site
of Okpameri Grils Grammar School. The firts set of students
reported to the college on the 13th May, 1995. Since the
inception of the school, it has witnessed successive
administrations starting with the pioneering Principal.

Over the years, the college has turned out a total number
of 2346 students. The first set of students graduated in the
year 2000. See attached list.

The performance of the students in the external
examinations (WAEC - NECO) has been impressive; this is
evident in the number of students that are being offered
admission into tertiary institutions every year through
JAMB. The college has also recorded impressive
performance in other spheres of activities like Sport, Drama
and Debate etc. Presently the population of the college is
700 with staff strength of 131 i.e. 71 Academic and 61 Non
– Academic and about 50 PTA teachers supported with 4
casual workers for smooth running of the college.
Federal Government College, Ibillo is a co-educational
institution with students population of 700. There are 131
staff comprising 61 academic and 70 non - academic.
There are also other part –time staff for effective and
efficient management. Ours is a purpose driven school,
striving to create conducive environment for teaching and
learning. We are determined to be the school of first choice
providing quality education and promising the ideals of
National Unity. Join us for a ride as we launch you into the
world of the school of our dream.

We are established to bring Nigeria Children together so
that they could develop a sense of unity as they appreciate
each other's culture. Furthermore, we serve as models in
every aspect of educational provision.
